What is The Murdér Express?

The Murdér Express is an immersive theatrical and dining experience that stands apart from the usual corporate team-building days.

From the moment you enter the fictional Pedley Street Station, you’ll be transported to 1920s East London, before travelling to the fictional French town of Murdér aboard the stationary Murdér Express.

Dine on a fabulous 4-course meal and sip on handcrafted cocktails in our luxurious dining carriage while following the twists of the live murder mystery as it unfolds around you.

Getting Here
The Murdér Express is located at Arch 63 on Pedley St, Bethnal Green in Shoreditch.

If you want to truly embrace the theme, consider hiring a 1920s bus to take you from your office to our venue in style! We’re also a short walk from the Bethnal Green tube station.

Don’t forget your team can also enjoy a pre-show drink at the venue and with your meal, plus beverage packages are available.

On Arrival
Once you’ve arrived at Pedley Street for your start time, you’ll check in and make your way to our Seven Sins Bar. Here you’ll have 30 minutes for welcome drinks and a chance to interact with our characters and see the station.

You can also book additional extras to start the experience your way, including DJ sets and presentation equipment (we cover this further down).

Boarding the Murdér Express
Time for the main event! Your group will be guided to The Murdér Express, which will be both your dinner setting and theatre stage. We create a feeling of movement on the train through motion graphics, sound and lighting effects (no strobe lighting included), but be assured that the train stays stationary throughout.

Take your seats in the luxurious booths and embrace the glamour of 1920s dining. Your 4-course meal takes place alongside the show that’s performed around you. While the show has some interactive elements, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your beautiful dishes and drinks.

What’s included in a private booking?

 

  • Minimum 2-hour dining and theatre experience which can be extended if required.
  • 4-course set menu designed by our chef partner Niall Keating. We also have our Funicular Continental Menu, which caters to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free travellers. Our menu can also be amended for specific dietary requirements on request.
  • Fully operational bar with the opportunity to order drinks throughout the experience (not included in ticket price).

We also offer additional extras to make your private booking suit your needs. These include:

Beverage Packages
Choose from a selection of beverage packages, including prosecco or cocktails on arrival. You can also organise a tab behind the bar to keep the drinks flowing. (All beverage prices include a 12.5% service charge).

Projector Screen
Announce your team awards or deliver presentations using our projector screen before heading onto the train for your show.

DJ
Have our DJ set the mood before or after the main performance. (Please note that if you require a DJ after the performance, this will usually mean a time extension for your booking).

Photobooth
Get some fun snaps of your team by hiring our photobooth for the evening. This is a great way to take home the memories and share the exciting antics you get up to during team get-togethers.

FAQs

The Murdér Express is open throughout the year for private and corporate bookings, and you can book a single session or an entire evening, subject to availability. Contact us with your preferred dates as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment.

We can usually fit 48 people onboard The Murdér Express but can increase for up to 54 people if required.

For private bookings we take a 50% non-refundable deposit, as these bookings mean we can’t advertise to other customers for your selected dates.

Pedley Street Station has step-free access from the street to the platform, bar and accessible bathroom. There are 3 steps up to the train, however, we have a ramp that can be set up that can allow access for most wheelchairs.

If anyone in your team is registered disabled or requires additional assistance at the event, please contact us at info@funicularproductions.com at the time of booking, to make sure your experience is as smooth as possible.

Absolutely. The train has 8 booths so if you wish to send us a table plan in advance we are happy to accommodate. Table plans are especially useful if you have guests with dietary requirements.

Here are our steps to make your Murdér Express team-building day a reality:

  1. Fill out our booking form here so we can explore your initial inquiry.

  2. We will then follow up to ensure we can cater to your needs.

  3. If agreed and we can fulfil your time and date, we will ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure the booking.

  4. We will then send you a guest list sheet to collate names, dietary information and a pre-drinks order form.

  5. We require all forms to be completed and your booking paid in full 7 days before your selected event date.
